SOTD: After all

I love a good duet. There’s no lie behind it. And this one has to be one of the best ever. I just got into it after watching that Farewell Cher concert DVD recently. And my mom likes this song a lot and I didn’t recognize it at first, then I realized it’s Cher!

[Verse 1]
Well, here we are again
I guess it must be fate
We've tried it on our own
But deep inside we've known
We'd be back to set things straight
I still remember when
Your kiss was so brand new
Every memory repeats
Every step I take retreats
Every journey always brings me back to you

[Chorus]
After all the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
And after all that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me, after all

[Verse 2]
When love is truly right
(This time it's truly right)
It lives from year to year
It changes as it goes
Oh, and on the way it grows
But it never disappears

[Chorus]
After all the stops and starts
We keep comin' back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
After all that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be, forever you and me, after all

[Bridge]
Always just beyond my touch
Though I needed you so much
After all what else is living for

[Chorus]
After all the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
And after all that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me
After all the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
And after all that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me, after all

This song was written for the 1989 romantic film Chances Are. It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song and peaked at No. 6 on the pop charts in the United States and Canada.

I can’t wait to see this duet in person in February!
