Last night at midnight, MGK dropped his latest project…an EP titled Binge. From top to bottom it is under 30 minutes of listening time and includes some tracks fans already knew, like Loco and Rap Devil.

Last night I also watched his interview on the Breakfast Club (I love them) where he talked on a lot of different topics…some of which included Halsey, G-Eazy, of course Eminem and Killshot, drug use, his daughter, and this EP. I really enjoyed the interview. In fact, I think I enjoyed it more than this project itself.

I saw Complex tweet about Machine Gun Kelly’s release this morning and saw a bunch of the replies, mainly all of them, were people saying the EP was trash. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people say something’s trash all at once. It surely could have been all Eminem stans, but honestly after listening a few times, it…just isn’t great. In my humble opinion. Some of the best parts of the interview do involve the Em beef. Kells says, “[Killshot was a legshot.] With Rap Devil we’re talking about facts while you want to talk about man buns? Answer the f***** facts. I’m an actor, homie. How disconnected are you? You called me a mumble rapper. Let’s pour some out for this old dumbass.” He then proceeds to pour a cup of tequila on the floor at the Breakfast Club interview.

I do; however, think the timing is perfect. His so public beef with Em and G only made his name more relevant. He’s smart...even if this EP was planned before, the timing really couldn’t have been more perfect for him.

Lately is another track I liked off the first listen. I like the beat and production, the chorus is catchy, and relatable. Kells just dropped the video for it too, which he shot himself. Take a look above.

I’ll say I do like the intro track, Long Time Coming. It’s just mellow and has a vibe to it. I like how it flows into Loco, the single that has finally grown onto me. I have a feeling more of these tracks will grow on me, but with initial few listens all the way through, on repeat, I’m not digging it. I admit I felt the same with Bloom and do bump it still. It just took a while. Some artists are like that. Lana Del Rey has been like that for me in the past, too.

I also do like GTS, which stands for Going Through S***. “I ain’t taking calls, I be going through s***,” is the chorus. It is a standout track to me on this short EP.
