When Corden met McCartney
So last night a special on CBS aired as an extension of the now legendary collaboration of James Corden x Sir Paul McCartney during their segment of Carpool Karaoke.
It was an hour long special titled, When Corden Met McCartney. It was full of the full Carpool Karaoke bit, which was about 30 minutes or so, plus never before seen footage of the two around Liverpool.
I can’t believe Paul had never seen the statues of The Beatles before in Liverpool. Can you imagine being by those statues taking photos or just sightseeing and then Paul walks over! I cannot at all. But it was so cool to see on film. Obviously the crowd grew immensely everywhere the two went.
What a day to be in Liverpool.
The segment also got emotional as both talked about their families and inspirations for loving music and such. Corden got teary eyed a few times throughout the show, I can’t blame him, and Paul was right there with him.
They discuss “Paul is dead” rumors, Paul spending some time in jail for marijuana and using his celebrity to get out of jail, why he is in fact barefoot on Abbey Road, and then show all of the footage of the surprise show at the Liverpool pub.
Paul performs bits of Lady Madonna, Drive My Car, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, I Wanna Be Your Man, and Hey Jude, among others. He also includes Come On To Me from his new album which will be released in a few short weeks. The album is titled Egypt Station and a few singles have been released so far.
I would recommend this segment to any and all Beatles or James Corden fans. It is enterataining and you don’t have to be a die hard fan to enjoy it. It’s just pure entertainment.
