SOTD: Everybody dies in their nightmares

Everybody Dies In Their Nightmares by the late rapper XXXTentacion. It's your typical X song, harmonies and all. There's quite a bit of repetition in the track, but it flows nicely. Peep video above and lyrics below. The track is off his debut album, 17 and is quite a short song, but fits into the project well.

[Intro: Shiloh Dynasty]
Ooh, ahh, ahh, ahh
Don’t go, don’t go to sleep
Don’t go, stay up and

[Chorus: XXXTENTACION]
Tired of feelin' like I'm trapped in my damn mind
Tired of feelin' like I'm wrapped in a damn lie
Tired of feelin' like my life is a damn game
Nigga really wanna die in the night time

[Verse: XXXTENTACION]
Only time I feel pain, when I'm feelin' love
That's why it's tatted on my face that I'm damn numb
Only time I'm in my mind, when I'm all alone
That's why I'm never really alone in the night time

Change hoes like clothes, I can't get attached
'Cause these hoes fire starters like lit matches
I've been feelin' really lost, duckin' all attachments

I don't really go outside 'cause I hate traffic
I don't wanna go outside, get caught in traffic, traffic

[Chorus: XXXTENTACION]
Tired of feelin' like I'm trapped in my damn mind
Tired of feelin' like I'm wrapped in a damn lie
Tired of feelin' like my life is a damn game
Nigga really wanna die in the night time
Tired of feelin' like I'm trapped in my damn mind
Tired of feelin' like I'm wrapped in a damn lie
Tired of feelin' like my life is a damn game
Nigga really wanna die in the night time
Tired of feelin' like I'm trapped in my damn mind
Tired of feelin' like I'm wrapped in a damn lie
Tired of feelin' like my life is a damn game
Nigga really wanna die in the night time
Nigga really wanna die in the night time
Nigga really wanna die in the night time
Nigga really wanna die in the night time, uh
Nigga really wanna die in the night time, uh
Nigga really wanna die in the night time
[Outro: Shiloh Dynasty]
Don’t go to sleep
Don’t go, stay up and
Don't go, don’t go to sleep
Don’t go, stay up and don't
Ooooahahh
Don’t go, don’t go to sleep
Don’t go, stay up and don't

It's a song of depression and suicidal thoughts...nothing new for X. He's got his heart on his sleeve like it's the new fashion.

X said at 17 he realized that pain in life is a cycle. This track touches on it.

“Traffic” symbolizes reality—going out and facing reality rather than staying stuck inside your own mind. Just like traffic, the truth can be chaotic and frustrating, but it’s necessary to weather it if you want to get where you’re going.
X could also be dreading the meaningless interaction that comes with being surrounded by other people that are constantly making small talk, or a reference to social anxiety.
The second line also suggests that he fears being confronted by any opposition (contemporary rappers, etc) while outside – getting “caught.”
