Is LinkedIn Premium worth it?
I recently signed up for my "free" trial of LinkedIn Premium, without knowing the exact perks it came with, making it "premium." After a few days of using the newer interface, I can say I am pleasantly surprised.
Not only can you see exactly (every person) who views your page, you also have access to a large library of informative videos in a new premium "Learning" tab. The videos are backed by Lynda.com after LinkedIn acquired Lynda in 2015.
Of the few videos I've began to watch, I find it super useful. The videos are created by experts in the field. And you can ultimately search any professional topic and find information and skip around to parts easily that are most important to you without having to sit through paid ads or the entire "webinar" in one session. The content is broken up into small consumable clips (chapters, almost), and there's even a dialogue option where you can read the exact dialogue instead of listening to the speaker. Might be helpful to copy and paste the dialogue into a Google Doc on videos you want to watch but might not have time to get all the way through, as a resource for later should you end your Premium account.
In addition to LinkedIn Learning, there is also now access to LinkedIn Salary.
LinkedIn Salary is a comparison calculator of individuals in fields "like you" and their reported salary. This part can be kind of depressing, but also very insightful.
Obviously, it's up to you if you will use these features for more than 1-month. If not, try the free trial and end it before it renews. But for me, right now the value of the video library in itself seems worth $30/mo. I just have to remember that I now have that resource and to maximize it. (I am used to finding tutorials on YouTube [there's a lot of really great ones!]
If you are Premium member, what do you like most about it? Or do you not find it beneficial to you? Let me know below. I'm curious!
