Sir Paul unplugged
It should be no surprise to anyone who knows me that I am obsessed with Paul McCartney. I've now seen him perform live 12 times. Yes, 12 times. And one was VIP. And another was at the legendary Madison Square Garden. Those were two bucket-list things that I am so happy to have had the opportunity to experience.
So naturally, I love his music and everything about him. I often watch videos on YouTube of past concerts and interviews and things like that, related to Sir Paul. One of my favorite concerts, or performances, is his MTV Unplugged gig he did in 1991.
In 1991, I wasn't born yet. But this collection of songs just speaks to me. He obviously does some of his own infamous tunes, but also does a few covers which I really love. See some highlights below.
"And I Love Her" - This is definitely one of my favorite Beatles songs, and this is probably my favorite rendition of the song besides seeing it live in person. I love the background harmonies and the intricate attention to acoustics. This is a performance that I feel every Beatles fan should see.
"Ain't No Sunshine" - Sadly I can't find a video of this song. But above is the audio. I've said it before, but I love when a great artist cover's a classic song and sort of spins it to make it their own. Paul does Bill Withers. And he does it good.
"Every Night" - This song is so sweet. This rendition is quite standard, but I just think there's a lot of emotion there and it's special to watch.
I would love to watch this in full. I haven't found a video of it or anyway to purchase it though. Regardless, I love the music and his sound in general. MTV Unplugged is a great segment that should be continued today (or is it still happening?), if the network still focused on music.
